July 12-15. Kecheche Bush Camp Part 1

Superb Starling

Hey Folks. We are on our last 3 nights and 4 days of Safari game drives. We head to the Olare Motorogi Conservancy and will be staying at another Kecheche Camp called Bush Camp. I’m going to post a bunch of photos with ‘minimal’ narrative as my brain is fried! At least I’ll try to keep my narrative to a minimum. This will be the first post of 2 from our time at Bush camp.

Our last game drive with Valley Camp guides Bernard and Micah is still filled with lots of sightings. We take a break around 9:30 to stop for breakfast.

It’s a great game drive as we head to Bush Camp. And we are greeted with a Maasai Tribal Chant. A great welcoming! The schedule is the same – lunch at 1:00 and game drive at 4:00 with dinner at 7:30. Over the course of this safari I have been introduced to the liqueur Amarula. Amarula is a South African cream liqueur made from the fruit of the marula tree and I think it may be better than Bailey’s!

Game drive does not disappoint in this new conservancy.

Lovely pride of lions. Pretty sunset and our sundowners with snacks. The coal fire is a clever way they add a little heat to our dining room.

Monday 7/13

We start the game drive and head towards a beautiful sunrise. But we get a two-fer! A gorgeous sunrise WITH a fat cheetah! This boy had just eaten and his belly was so big that it swayed as he walked.

You really must zoom in to catch the belly on this boy!

And can you believe it? We drive to find another leopard and her boy cub who is about 4 months old. Will it be another Cat Trick kind of day???

Mom was very watchful of her young charge. He was cautious but was also a bit playful.

How about a few hippos on our way to breakfast?

Actually- there were probably 6 or 8 hippos here but they didn’t want to stick their heads up. See the nostrils in the one photo!

Breakfast with our new guides Patrick and Charles. The kitchen crew is very accommodating and supply Leslie with her own gluten free breakfast!

After breakfast we enjoy a ride back to camp and take in a few more animals.

I wonder what will be in store for the afternoon!

The afternoon is filled with all sorts of lovelies. And we can never get enough of those lion bellies!

We had 7 giraffe friends come to take a look at what we were watching. It was fascinating to see their curiosity.

Must be time for a sundowner soon. But not before looking at more bellies
