I know! Do not worry- you did not miss a day. I skipped a few as we had travel time and rest time. I’ll make up for it. This ‘should’ be a short writing blog with mostly a photo dump.
We all met at a hotel in Nairobi. We did have a fun outing on Monday but I’ll save that for another time. Tuesday morning was up bright and early to catch our private plane to The Ol Pejeta Conservancy where we will stay at Kicheche Laikipia Camp.

It’s about a 35 minute flight and we are greeted at a strip field with our driver guides Simon and Peter from the camp. They are experienced trackers and will locate as many animals as possible on our game drives. But for now- we get a 2 hour game drive as we make our way to camp, our home away from home for 2 nights.
Along the way….

Once we get to camp we are greeted by the staff and given fresh lemonade and a minty/limey cool washcloth to wash our hands and faces from the travel dust. Let’s go to our tents.

Lunch is served with individual pizzas. We do not go hungry on these trips

After lunch we get an hour to digest before we head out in the afternoon for a late day game drive. A main attraction in this region are the rhinos. I’ll talk about white vs black rhino another time. The wind picks up and it’s a bit of a chilly drive. We see lots of warthogs, Guinea Hens, elephants, giraffe, a few buffalo and some rhino.

Normally we have cocktails out in the bush during sunset but it’s too cold so we head straight back to camp to sit by the fire. But cocktail sunsets are affectionately called ‘Sundowners”
Dinner is served around 7:30 and it’s another feast. They make every attempt at catering to your dietary needs whether it be gluten/dairy free, vegetarian or whatever!

It’s time for bed because it’s an early day tomorrow with wake up at 5am and on the trucks by 6:00 for sunrise at 6:30.
I was able to get one decent sunset photo- there will be more. And by the way. All pictures are taken with our IPhone 17.

See you in the morning! It will be Northern White Rhino Day.
